Tänään aurinko nousi Helsingissä tasan yhdeksältä ja laskee 15.19. Nyt on siis päivä, mutta utuisen hämyiseltä täällä jo näyttää.
Even the days are dark. We have few hours of daylight each day, not nearly enough to reach the hours I actually spend at home. And the darkest days are yet to come, the day will shorten with half an hour before we reach the rock bottom and start our long climb back into the spring. The winter solstice is December the 21st.
Today the sun rose at 9 am and will set in half an hour, at 3.19. This should be daytime, but there is a twilight-y feel already.
Valokuvaaminen tähän vuodenaikaan on hilpeää hommaa. Nyt mulla on se lukulamppu, johon on ruuvattu kylmävaloinen lamppu, mutta yhdellä lampulla ei vielä pitkälle pötkitä. Erilaisilla heijastimilla toki saa lampun kuin lampun valotehoa keinotekoisesti kasvatettua, mutta kuvaaminen muuttuu entistä naurettavammaksi pelleilyksi. Koskahan olisi rahaa kunnon jalustaan? Olisi kiva taipua myös näkemään mitä kuvaa, ettei kuvaisi lähinnä sitä heijastinpintaa kuten yllä.
Taking pictures is an interesting prosedure this time of year. I bought a 4200K light bulb to get rid of too yellow light, but one light bulb only gets you so far. Using reflectors helps with the amount of light, but then you face another problem: How to actually take the pictures, when you don't own a decent tripod and you've only got two arms? After the session you realize you've got 20 pictures of the reflector and 1 half-decent photo of the actual skein of yarn.Ruotsiin lähtevien joulupakettien täytyy olla postissa viimeistään 18. päivä. Siispä mulla on kaksi viikkoa aikaa, jos meinaan saada serkunpoikien sukat jouluksi perille. tekemättä on vielä melkein kolme sukkaa. Jos lasken viikon tästä päivästä eteenpäin Anthonyn sukkiin ja seuraavan viikon Marcuksen sukkiin, ehdin valmiiksi. Tällä aikataululla mukaan pitäisi mahtua myös sukkavapaita päiviä. Silti luulen, että tämän aika on vasta keväällä taas.
I have to get two pairs of socks done by the 18th day. I have one sock done already. If I finish that pair within a week and use the next week for the other pair, I should be able to manage to get the socks to my cousin's sons in Sweden in time for Christmas. I do need sockfree days too. I still feel I won't be able to get back to this before next year.
