Turkoosia ja kullanoranssia on nähty ulkomaanihmeiden villoissa ja langoissa nimellä Koi Pond. Koikarppeja ei suomenniemellä juuri näy, luonnonlammissa varsinkaan, mutta väriyhdistelmä kiehtoo mua suuresti (samoin kuin ne karpit itse). Tämä lanka on suomalaista värjäystaituruutta erään pienen kosken rantaluolasta ja niinpä puheissamme koristeelliset karpit muuttuivat suomalaiskansallisiksi ahveniksi ja lampikin koskeksi, vaikka ahven ei kovassa virtauksessa viihdykään.

I love the combination of golden orange and deep turquoise. Many dyers call this combo the Koi pond. We haven't got koi carps in Finland and we fairly seldom have water features in our gardens. This yarn was dyed in a small cave near a small stream, so this yarn became known as perches in the stream. Perches are the national fish (oh, come on!) of Finland and my favorite fish for eating. They are not yellow, but get a golden tint when you fry them in butter.
